So my experiment was The effect of Ph. Levels on the time it takes nails to rust. My results were that it rusted faster in soapy water other than baking soda, regular water, lemon juice, and tomato juice. If anyone has done this project please tell me your results. Or could you just tell me if my results are right? thankss.Im doing a science project on the effect of PH. levels on the time it takes a nail to rust help??
Hi, not sure about your pH experiment, but if that is the results you got, and you carried out the experiment correctly then you should be good to go!
Acids consist of positive hydrogen ions (H+) and basic substances contain OH- ions.Im doing a science project on the effect of PH. levels on the time it takes a nail to rust help??
Your results are extremely interesting, and I believe them. So should you, because you were there and saw what happened.
What you have shown is that pH is not the only thing that matters. Soapy water is only very slightly more alkaline than regular water, which means it has a pH in between regular water and baking soda. There is a great deal going on below the surface, and I mean literally below the surface of the rust, where the metal is reacting.
