That's the thing, the fight against radical Islam is attempting to introduce liberalism to these regions. They need it, they've conserved the wrong things for too long.

Conservatives favor less govt. Iran is a theocracy with an iron grip on the people.
They do have a large GNP due to oil that is being stolen by the mafia religios at the top and if that were distributed, it might be a better place. Corruption is huge there as well.

After hearing him speak, I can't help but wonder about the frustration of everyday Iranian people who overthrew an oppressive regime in hopes of something better, only to get a different kind of oppression. The same thing that happened to the Cuban people that got rid of Batista, only to get fifty years of Castro. I'm still amazed over A-Jad's statement that there are no homosexuals in Iran... Castro deported homosexuals, I hate to think what A-Jad did.
